It Takes a Village - MST from Multiple Perspectives
-
Source: Focal Point, a journal published by the National Research Institute for Human Services at Portland State University
Evidence-based programs (EBPs) differ from traditional therapeutic approaches in several ways. For example: 1) Interventions used are grounded in sound empirical research that has demonstrated their effectiveness; 2) Therapists practicing the models are held accountable to practicing with high fidelity; and 3) Supervision of these models is often layered, involving a site supervisor as well as supervision from a model expert or consultant. Depending on the individual, working within an EBP can be viewed as either confining or freeing; it's all a matter of perspective and personal preference.
One of the EBPs that we work with is Multisystemic Therapy (MST), a model designed to treat youth who have mental health needs and are involved in the juvenile justice system.

New Hires
Lori Moore joined MST Services in the role of MST Consultant and is located in
Pennsylvania. Lori has been a part of the Multisystemic Therapy treatment model since October 1999,
when she was with Adelphoi Village as a therapist. Lori was attracted to MST because of the
strong adherence to a model that demonstrated good outcomes for kids and families. In October
2000, she was promoted to supervisor and in March 2002, to the second system supervisors
position within Adelphoi Village. Lori came to work for MST Services in June 2008. When she
is not doing MST or thinking MST, like that ever happens, she is enjoying life in Latrobe,
Pennsylvania with her husband Eric and her 17-year-old daughter Katelyn. Lori is also
especially proud of her son Ronn, who graduated from the University of Michigan in 2007,
and is currently teaching near McAllen, Texas, for "Teach for America".
